What Is a Concussion?

People get concussions when they get hit and their brains hit the inner walls of their skulls. This can cause anything from unconsciousness to headaches and dizziness. In terms of severity, concussions can range from being mild and easily healed to severe and the cause of life-changing symptoms. People may not even realize they have had a concussion or traumatic brain injury (TBI) until the symptoms show themselves later on.

How Do People Heal from a TBI?

Concussions and TBIs don't heal like other injuries. Most of the time, people need to refrain from any activities for a period of time and then get re-evaluated. In sports, this is often called concussion protocol. People have different reactions to concussions, which makes the condition difficult to treat. However, there is help out there.

How We Help at Mid-Atlantic Brain & Neurological Rehabilitation
